I decided to go spend some more of my money , so I dug up a couple of coffee cans from the back yard and purchased a 2010 yamaha supercharged ski from barnies yesterday,, All I have to say is I hope it's more reliable than that stupid kawasaki I bought last year. I will keep the kawasaki and let my girlfriend ride it and sell the sea doo gtx 4tec, I will probably regret selling the doo since it has been the most reliable ski I have ever owned and I love slalom skiing behind it. But it's 8 years old and it's time to move up to a newer one.

well an interesting thing happened today,, I was bringing the new ski home on my double trailer,, I figured I would need to do some adjusting to get both skies to sit correctly,, and I will but on the way home the winch released the safety chain hook actually stretched and released and the ski went half way off the trailer before the rear strap stopped it, so I nearly lost the damn thing and I didn't call the insurance company to put insurance on it yet so it would have been a real bad day if the strap had broken.

well so far I have 25 hours on the yamaha and about 125 on the kawasaki,, here is what I find with the two after riding the yamaha a bit, the yamaha is way loose at high speed in a turn < i even put on sponsons and it helped but it is not even close to the surefootedness of the kawasaki keep in mind both have my steering on them, I found that the yamaha needs you to lean OUT or it will skip across the water sideways. i'm talking at w o t. it does jump in the air on waves a lot better than the kawasaki but the hull is lite and it has a bad hop when it lands the kaw wants to carve through the waves and not get a lot of air but it is really stable. obviously the kaw is noticeably faster than the yamaha and more comfortable to ride for long periods of time especially if you have a passenger.
The yamaha uses regular fuel and the engine will probably last a lot longer than the kaw but that is just based on the size to hp the yamaha is 1800cc 210 hp so it isn't being tapped nearly as hard as the kawasaki. I just wish the kawasaki had trim or a pump wedge to keep the ride drier with one person on it you get soaked,, the yamaha is really a dry ride in comparison.. the kawasaki has been doing fine since they replaced the pump with the new style with the extra bearing in it. oh and the yamaha has that stupid ass backward reverse and the lever on the right side not my favorite thing however I do like the no wake cheater mode and the cruise control on the throttle.
